Forrest Gump and Christian Doctrine

We Missional/Post-Evangelical types are not big fans of the overuse of doctrinal statements and systematic summations of the gospel.

(...also, we don't like being called "Missional/Post-Evangelical types,"...)

I've written elsewhere about why this is so. But I recently saw a clip on YouTube that made the point better than I ever could.

Doctrine, I think, is to the gospel of Jesus Christ what this is to Forrest Gump:



Watching this, I know the facts of the story...

I do not, however, know the story.

And that's all I have to say about that.
